CREAM TEA ANYONE?
Where better to go to enjoy a cream tea than the National Trust. We have three excellent local sites:
CASTLE DROGO, Drewsteignton (who also now stock our wines)
LYDFORD GORGE, Lydford
FINCH FOUNDRY, Sticklepath
Click on the links for more details of each site and their opening times.
JUST A SMALL SELECTION OF OUR LOCAL EATERIES:
The George Hotel, Hatherleigh
This country pub and dining room is now fully reopened after a £2.5m refurbishment, following a major fire. The menu is a mix
of pub classics and modern English dishes, with a good range of mains.
The Green Dragon, Northlew
Well kept real ales & homemade food served Tuesday – Saturday 7-9pm plus Sunday lunch. Bar open every evening & weekend lunchtimes.
The Bridge Inn, Hatherleigh
A local pub and restaurant serving locally sourced, home cooked food using only the freshest ingredients. There are extensive lunch and evening menus.
Dartmoor Inn, Lydford
The roaring log fire is just the job after a wind-whipped trek across the tors. There’s the delicious scent of home cooking, a specials-board that
lists suppliers (all local) and a bar-counter bristling with the region’s finest beers.
TAKEAWAYS
The Bridge Inn, Hatherleigh (see above)
A take out service is also available at lunch time and evenings Mon-Sat.
Hatherleigh Fish Bar, Hatherleigh
Great value, freshly cooked fish and just what you may need on arrival day. Open Tues-Sat 17:00 – 21:00, and lunchtime on market days
(Tuesday and Saturday, 11:30 – 14:00). Telephone orders taken for collection.
FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS
If you feel like something very special, try this double Michelin-starred restaurant at the Gidleigh Park Hotel. Run by “Executive Chef” Michael Caines, it is rated as one of the best restaurants in the country. The food (and price) reflects that, with a host of haute cuisine available.
Michael Caines ‘Abode’ at the Royal Clarence Hotel, Exeter
High quality cuisine from our Michelin starred chef. The lunch menu is particularly good value.
