Eastcott Vineyard is located in the heart of a delightful rural area of West Devon, between Dartmoor and the North Coast. The three self-catering holiday cottages all look out onto a peaceful green Devon vale.

The farmhouse is believed to have been built in the 16th Century with later additions in the 19th . Village records from the medieval period mention the renting of ‘Estecott’ and our neighbours have well preserved field systems from these times.

When we arrived in 2007, the 12 acre site and buildings were rather tired, so we set about giving them a new purpose. We have planted 6 acres of vines, converted an agricultural barn into a new winery and completely refurbished the holiday accommodation…..and of course made some wine! ‘Merlot’, ‘Cabernet’ and ‘Sauvignon’ are now comfortable and well-appointed residences which have been renovated to a high standard, suitable for year round occupation. Set on the edge of the village of Northlew, they make an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding countryside and local attractions.

On a sunny day what better than to watch the buzzards circle over the valley, riding on the air currents. A family of foxes live on the slope below the vineyard, which in the spring is dotted with Spotted Heath Orchids. Then enjoy a glass of Eastcott wine before the sun sets and darkness descends. There is no light pollution here so you can end the day by stargazing.

OPEN ALL YEAR

Perfect for a traditional family holiday, a romantic break or a well-deserved break away from the main season.

Dartmoor and the dramatic coastlines of North Cornwall and Devon are all within easy driving distance. Dartmoor is perfect for walking or cycling on The Granite Way cycle trail or you can use the Tarka trail.

The National Trust sites of Castle Drogo and Lydford Gorge and the gardens at RHS Rosemoor are popular with our guests.

We are equally close to North Devon’s rugged coastline as to North Cornwall’s gentle sandy beaches. The Eden Project is just over an hour away or why not visit Exeter’s magnificent cathedral before enjoying a meal courtesy of Michael Caines, Devon’s own Michelin starred chef.
