Originally a 16th century barn attached to the main Farmhouse, where the cattle were kept, Merlot Cottage is completely private from the other residences. It was converted by a previous owner into a three bedroomed cottage and then completely refurbished by us.

Upstairs you have a double bedroom with 5 ft bed and a south facing lview over the vale. Next door is a twin bedroom, again facing south. Both of these rooms show the original cob wall construction, with deep window recesses in the thick outer walls. The third bedroom is a single, with a lovely window seat looking out to the west. Next to this is a bathroom/WC.

Downstairs is a great family space with a large L-shaped lounge/diner and a separate ‘Snug’ reception room, once dubbed the ‘naughty room’ by a family of regular guests. The reception rooms retain the original wooden beams in the ceilings but fortunately at a reasonable height. The exterior walls show the character of the age of the building and are anything but straight! The main room leads off the kitchen. This area of the cottage is a more modern addition, with ample working space and equipment. Downstairs there is also a WC/Shower.

Outside is a patio and enclosed south facing lawned garden, beyond which is a ‘wildlife zone’, where red deer and other animals roam up the valley. Nearby is a dedicated parking area for two cars, leading off the main driveway.
